Product Description Guitar Hero World Tour Guitar Kit PS2
Amazon.com Product Description Start a Band...the Guitar Hero Way Guitar Hero World Tour transforms music gaming by expanding Guitar Hero's signature guitar gameplay into a cooperative band experience that combines advanced wireless instruments with gameplay modes from Guitar Hero 3 as well as new gameplay modes unique to GHWT. The game features a slick redesigned guitar as well as a Music Studio music creator that lets players compose, record, and edit their own rock ‘n’ roll anthems.
*Note: The drum kit controller and microphone are sold seperately. Wireless Instruments New to GHWT is a redesigned, more responsive guitar controller, which features a touch-sensitive slide bar on the neck that allows the player to play through certain song passages without needing to strum. Be the Next Great Songwriter Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full complement of tools to create digital music from scratch utilizing the guitar controller and drum kit. Players can create their tracks and then play them in-game as a solo act or with friends. Create the Band Budding rock stars can live out their rock ‘n’ roll fantasies by playing either a single instrument or any combination of instruments, in addition to the full band experience. When rocking as part of a band, up to four players can jam together in quickplay or as they progress through a career. Both band and single-player careers feature non-linear progression giving artists the option to change difficulty and instruments with a variety of different gigs available at any time. Customize Everything The character creator allows gamers to create a rock star with style as unique as their own. Absolute customization from the clothes, to the facial and body structure, to the tattoos and accessories, players are encouraged to unleash their inner rock legend. The Rock Star Creator doesn't just allow players to build the ultimate rock god; the in-depth creators include the ability to customize guitars, drums and microphones. Adding yet another layer of personalization, gamers can create custom logos for their instruments, band, or album covers. Fixed PS2 read error December 30, 2008 C Man 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Here's what I did to fix the same problem on my PS2 (Slim model # SCPH-70012). This should work for all models of PS2's. (Slim or Fat). Sony says all models can read a dual layer disc. If the fix doens't work then you need to send in your PS2 for service.
1) Start up the PS2 with no disc in it.
2) Highlight the 'Browser' menu and press the 'green triangle' button.
3) Highlight the 'Console' menu and press the 'green triangle' button.
4) Highlight the 'Diagnostics' menu and press the 'blue X' button and select 'ON'.
5) Press the 'red O' button to back out of this menu.
6) Highlight the 'PlaystationDrive' menu and press the 'green triangle' button.
7) Highlight the 'Disc Speed' menu and press the 'blue X' button and select 'FAST'.
8) Press the 'red O' button to back out of this menu.
9) Turn off your PS2.
10) This step is optional.......I blew into the main unit to loosen any dust out of it and then carefully used my shirt to wipe across the lens at the back of the drive. I'm not sure if this mattered or not. Since I did this in conjuction with the above steps I can't say if this is needed.
11) Insert the disc and turn the PS2 back on. The diagnostics should run and automatically adjust your PS2 to play the game. I was amazed! Mine loaded right up after several previous days of nothing.
12) I checked the settings after the initial load and the Diagnostics and Drive speed reset to normal so it must be a one time run thing. My game has loaded everytime since and I haven't had to re-do the settings at all.
I hope this works for you too!!
It Works! December 17, 2008 C. Reynolds (Pearland, TX USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Ok, after "freaking out" when reading the last reviewer who said his/her PS2 game disc did not play, I opened my kids' Christmas present this evening (the GHWT Band) and made sure that it in fact DOES work. For piece of mind, I'm glad I checked but now I can't wait until my boys hook it up and start "jammin'" so I can join in. It looks pretty awesome!!
Update Jan. 6th - I was curious and did a little research about the issue and it appears that the GHWT discs are not working with the older PS2s - which is horrible for lots of people out there. Apparently there is a TINY - and I checked my box and it is tiny - statement - which states it will only work with the NTSC version of PS2 (newest versions of the system). Fair of the manufacturer...I think not. Kinda reminds me of how they took the chip out of the new Ps3's so you can't play ps2 games on them.
Awesome December 18, 2008 Amanda R. Bishop (Louisiana) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I think the first reviewer got a faulty game or his system is messed up.
I know several people that have this and no problems whatsoever.
I just got mine this morning as a birthday gift from my husband. I haven't been able to walk away from it much all day. I love it. I have played Rockband and Rockband 2, but never a GH game. So, after doing research I decided I wanted this one. I am SOOOOOO glad I have it. It is amazing. And after playing Rockband I had no problem just jumping right it.
Buy this.... you won't regret it!
great entertainment January 6, 2009 C. Smith (Adrian, Michigan United States) Guitar Hero has been the only "toy" that my daughter has continually used. She received her first Guitar Hero game last Christmas and has practically worn the game out, so when I saw the great deal that Amazon had on the newest version, Guitar Hero world Tour, I knew she had to have it. Now having two guitars, she and her friends rock out all night long!!
Great Game for all levels January 7, 2009 mech (Oklahoma) With the varied level styles everyone in my family is able to play the game.
From the 6 yr old and up
